IPTSP licences of four companies cancelled

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has revoked the internet protocol telephony service provider (IPTSP) license of four ISP companies, including a member company of internet service providers association ISPB. The companies have also been instructed to submit the licenses issued in their favor to the Commission within 10 days.

The companies whose licenses have been cancelled are ISPAB member Idea Network and non-members Communication Limited, Digital Connectivity Limited, Pretty International Private Limited and Sadia Tech Limited.

The matter was informed in a notification signed by Director, License Branch of BTRC Md. Nurunnabi on Sunday (September 24). In the letter, the regulator has directed the four companies to refrain from all activities related to the IPTSP line. At the same time, the letter has also been instructed to refrain from any kind of telecommunications agreement with these organizations, financial transactions against communication services.

According to the BTRC notification, the IPTSP licenses of the four companies have also been canceled as per provision 35.4 of the IPTSP guidelines. It is illegal to carry out any activity under the license issued by the BTRC and is a punishable offence under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act 2001.
